Traditional Rituals of Raksha Bandhan

Before the Rakhi is tied, certain Vedic rituals are performed to purify the surroundings and invite divine blessings:

• A Swastika symbol is drawn on both sides of the main entrance using red roli or red ochre (geru).
• The names of Radha and Krishna are written near or above the Swastika symbols.
• Sweets are offered to the Swastika and the deities as part of the puja.
• Holy water from a copper vessel is sprinkled around the home to cleanse and sanctify the space.
• Only after these spiritual preparations is the Rakhi tying ceremony performed.

 Important Tip: Rakhi should never be tied during Bhadra Kaal or Rahu Kaal, as these periods are considered inauspicious in Vedic astrology.
